About this app

Doodle is an open-source app that provides colorful live wallpapers with auto dark mode and power-efficient animations.
The wallpapers are based on the original Doodle live wallpaper collection of the Google Pixel 4 and the unreleased Material You wallpaper collection of the Pixel 6, extended with additional wallpapers from Chrome OS.
The app is not just a copy of the original wallpapers, it's a complete rewrite without the permanent animations to save battery and storage space. In addition, there are many customization options to match your preferences.

Features:
• Stunning wallpaper designs and Pixel feeling
• System dependent dark mode
• Power-efficient parallax effect on page swipe or when tilting the device
• Optional zoom effects
• Direct boot support (immediately active after device restart)
• No ads and no analytics
• 100% open-source

Advantages over original Pixel 4 live wallpapers:
• Permanent animations (when tilting the device) are optional
• Support for Android 12 color extraction
• Exclusive "Material You" live wallpapers
• No battery-hungry 3D engine
• Improved text contrast (dark text for light themes instead of white text with shadow)
• Many additional customization options
• Rendering works well even on less powerful devices (very efficient rendering engine)
• Also suitable for larger devices like tablets (scaling option available)
• Tiny installation size

EDIT 2) I'm still using it. I love the designs. Only 3 stars because the animations never play, regardless of parallax or hardware acceleration. Got it back, turned on parallax, and now it won't stop crashing. In fact, it crashes so frequently I can't even turn parallax off. I had to uninstall and reinstall. I know that's not exactly the wallpaper's fault, but I've used parallax wallpapers before that didn't do this.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I know that Samsung devices are very buggy regarding hardware-accelerated wallpaper rendering, and I sadly don't know how to solve this yet because I cannot reproduce this on any of my test devices.

So polished, you'd think it was built in. Request: expand the "Variants" options with a custom color picker, or at least a broad color palette, that would allow for real personalization of the wallpaper. I love the smoothness of the motion effects, but having so few color options may limit the app's appeal for many. In the same way that Repainter enables endless choices for system colors, the ability to tint the different elements of these dynamic wallpapers to my taste would be *chef's kiss*

That is a huge compliment, thanks a lot!🤭 Edit: that's already an open issue on GitHub, but that would require many hours of work that I don't have right now. Currently every variant consists of two carefully craftet svg files for light and dark mode, so every shape would have to be retinted during runtime what requires shape color mapping.

Whenever I have the live wallpaper set on both home and lock screen, the unlock animation never plays. It works fine though when I only have it set to home screen. (Android 10) Still going to give 5 stars because I don't know if it's a bug with this app or an Android limitation EDIT: Thanks for the reply! Sadly my phone isn't getting any more updates, but after having used this wallpaper for a few months I don't really notice the bug anymore.

Thank you! I think this could be a bug of the system on your phone, maybe it improves with in update😬 Thanks for 5 stars!

What's new

• Improved: crash logging feature
• Improved: maximum tilt effect intensity
• Improved: settings layout for large screens
• Improved: follow system accessibility animation reduction option
• Fixed: again hopefully a big crash cause in the rendering algorithm
